What inspired her to start:
I really needed an outlet to express my taste in music & culture, especially hip-hop, so I began making jewelry out of recycled wax.. It was a snowball effect.
Her advice to you:
Starting a brand is hard, be persistent. You gotta love the long hours and hustle. Fall in love with working nonstop. It'll test your ability to stay strong.

"The forthcoming Miss Wax Artist Series is a collaborative collection between notable artists and Miss Wax Jewelry. We are proud to introduce the first installment of the series featuring Queens, NY-based artist, Sophia Chang.
With exceptional detail, we’ve created a limited edition pendant that features a complete depiction of Sophia Chang’s original “Shaolin” praying hands, inspired by an essential theme in Wu-Tang’s lyrics. Shaolin is an ancient Chinese martial art form, and is a coined reference for New York’s Staten Island. The hands' complex tattoo design are highlighted with an antiqued 14kt gold finish, and will be available at select retailers in the month of December.
We’ve also teamed up with the nationally recognized organization, Art Start, where proceeds of this project will be donated. By bringing awareness to the most deserving youth, our objective is to encourage young visionaries to pursue success through the arts & understand that there is no limit to creativity."
