Hi! I'm: Esther @EstherLovesYou
I'm a: Illustrator/Designer
I'm a: Libra
I live in: warm, sunny, southern California
My fav spot in LA is: this amazing restaurant that my friend took me to when they picked me up from the airport called My Two Cents - it's a super delicious new American southern food spot and they have an awesome playlist. Love it. Opening Ceremony always restores my faith in fashion.
A brand I'm really diggin right now is: Toga Pulla! I really want some cute boots from them. Oh and I'm super into Ashley Williams, her clothes are so cute!
I think the babe with the best style is: The Mizuhara sisters - they have such quirky, cute taste in everything.
Songs I can't get out of my head today is: I love k-pop so CALL ME BABY by EXO, Brdg by Zion T-Yanghwa, Sometimes by Crush.. Sorry, cheating more than one :)
What inspired her to start:
I remember being really blown away when I first found out about Fafi. I like how she didn't cater to the boys and made really girly art. Now there are a lot of girly illustrators but when she came out it felt really empowering to me.
Her advice to you:
I think it's important to be mentally tough and not to compare yourself to others. There are all kinds of artists and markets and demographics - figure out what makes you special and really work on that aspect of your work.
P.S. Did you know? Esther has tons of creative projects and collabs coming out:
- Her second set of stamps: estherlovesyoumore for Aillis (formerly Line Camera) just came out! She says, "Don't forget to tag your photos using #estherlovesyou #estherlovesyoumore so I can see your work! I love seeing how people use them!"
-She worked on a pretty rad project designing mannequins for a Japanese juniors brand: Pink Latte. She says, "That was definitely surreal to see my drawings come to life in 3-D form."
-She has a collaboration with Koshka coming out super soon! They are embroidering "bad" estherbunnies on to a cute collection of clothes and accessories. It's got a more muted palette and tomboy vibe. She says, "I'm excited to show a different side of myself." It will be available here!
-She has a super cute bag collaboration coming out with British bag designer: Sara Sboul. She says, "I love finding super artsy fashion-obessed girls. I love Sara's quirky bags that are more than just cute. Her color combinations and eye for textiles is amazing." It will be available here!
-You can purchase any of her other work here!
